PRESIDENT & CEO

2023
Our Inaugural Year of Operations in Dakar, Senegal
GEIS was founded in 2021 as an educational nonprofit organization in the state of Georgia, USA. The inspiration for GEIS was rooted in the opportunity to provide scientific, educational enrichment opportunities for students of all ages in Dakar, Senegal.
Established Office In Virage, Senegal (Section of Dakar)
After careful consideration of transit routes and commercial districts in Dakar, Senegal, GEIS chose the area of Virage to set up our first office. This location is central to downtown Dakar and access roads to other regions of Dakar where our sponsored schools are located.
Sponsored Schools
GEIS recognized the following schools and local communities for sponsorship:
- Lycée Plan Jaxaay
- Yeumbeul 2
- Zone de recasement college
- Universite Cheikh Anta Diop
Organizational Development
The GEIS staff moved into our new office space in Virage and immediately hired Djibril Thiam as our program manager and school leader. He has his bachelor’s degree in management and will work as the liaison for all of our school leaders and local communities. The sponsored school leaders will also identify support personnel to execute events and coordinate communications with GEIS leadership, donors, and governmental agencies.
